According to the CTA, a medical emergency between the Howard and Belmont Red Line stops halted 95th- bound Red Line trains and caused significant delays for Purple Line trains starting around 5:35 a.m.
Because of the service disruption, Red Line trains are currently only operating between Belmont and 95th.
While purple line trains are on the move, they are running with residual delays from the medical emergency.
To accommodate, the CTA is providing shuttle buses from Howard to Belmont to provide connecting service through the area for Red Line and Purple Line riders.
Currently, it is unclear exactly what unfolded and authorities have not yet provided details on the situation.
Crews are currently working to restore service and it is unclear how long the disruptions could last.
Officials advise riders to consider other service alternatives.
