The incident unfolded around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Thorndale Red Line stop in the 1100 block of West Thorndale Avenue in Edgewater, CTA officials said.
The incident halted Red Line trains between the Howard and the Belmont stop ahead of rush hour.
Officials indicated that the disruption was sparked by a medical emergency at the Thorndale stop, though specific details surrounding the incident are unclear.
As of 6:20 a.m., officials said trains were back on the move, but running with residual delays.
In order to accommodate riders, the CTA is currently operating shuttle buses from Howard to Belmont to provide connecting service.
It is currently unclear how long the delays will last.
Officials advise riders to consider alternative transit services, like nearby bus routes or other rail lines and allow for extra time during their commutes.
Riders with additional service questions can speak with station personnel for help, according to the CTA.
