PORT BARRE, La. (
KLFY) — On the evening of September 1st, around 11 p.m., multiple parents of Port Barre High School students alerted the Port Barre Police Department to a threatening social media post circulating.
The post, originally made on TikTok by a 14-year-old student stated, “Update: I’m famous mom, PBH getting shot up tomorrow.” The content was later shared within a PBHS Snapchat group, prompting immediate concern from students and their families.
Police quickly launched an investigation and identified the individual responsible. The juvenile was located and his parents were contacted by authorities. He was subsequently booked at the Port Barre Police Department under the charge of terrorizing in violation of Louisiana Revised Statute 14:40.1.
The juvenile was released into the custody of his parents. When questioned, he claimed the post was intended as a joke.
In an official statement, Port Barre police emphasized the seriousness of the incident, stating that neither the community nor law enforcement viewed the threat as humorous. “This social media post caused real panic and real concern,” the department noted. Officials stressed that threats of this nature must be treated with the utmost seriousness given the rise in school shootings across the United States.
