Chad M. Myers, 56, of Port Barre, is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in connection with an incident on Friday.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a report Friday of an armed robbery from the parking lot of Jim Tatman’s Mobile Homes, 15729 U.S. 190 near Opelousas. The complainant, a laborer working on a mobile home, said he was approached by Myers, who was brandishing a small firearm, authorities said.
Myers then allegedly took the workman’s truck and trailer and drove towards Port Barre, colliding with several vehicles along the way, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
“For some unknown reason, Myers drove to the Port Barre Police Department, where he was taken into custody without incident,” Guidroz said.
Myers was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. Bond details were not released.
