Highs will still reach around 90° today and Tuesday, but lower humidity means “feels like” temperatures should only be in the low to mid-90s. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 60s and low 70s, with areas near Lake Pontchartrain staying in the mid-70s.
Rain chances look minimal, with only a slim chance for an isolated shower near the coast. Most places will stay dry through Tuesday.
Looking ahead into mid-week and the weekend, the overall pattern doesn’t change much. Northwest winds aloft will keep deeper Gulf moisture from returning, so rainfall should stay limited. Temperatures will remain warm, generally in the low 90s, and a few spots could touch the mid-90s late in the week.
Even so, humidity will stay in check with dew points mostly in the 60s—keeping heat index values from getting too high. Nights should also be comfortable, with lows near or just below normal for early September.
