Sunday forecast: Sunshine and warm-up ahead for second half of Labor Day Weekend
Chicagoland is in for a picture-perfect stretch of weather as we move towards the Labor Day holiday.
Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s inland on Sunday, while a lake breeze will keep things a bit cooler along the shoreline, with highs in the low to mid-70s.
The back half of the Labor Day weekend looks seasonable, with conditions close to normal for early September and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
A strong cool signal on tap with much below normal temperatures locked into place across the Midwest and Great Lakes
This is a good proxy indicator how temperatures will respond at the surface. The blue represents cooler than normal and the darker shading indicates an even larger deficit relative to normal.
You can see the magnitude of the cool air that arrives later next week into the following weekend. This will result in temperatures more typical of mid-October than early September.
The unseasonably chilly air arrives late next week.
