According to an Aug. 31 news release from Kentucky State Police (KSP), Robert A. Broyles, 34, of Louisville, was found unresponsive during the staff’s morning inmate count.
He was reportedly taken to Appalachian Regional Hospital in Morgan County where he was pronounced dead.
Just before 9 a.m. on Sunday, KSP was contacted by EKCC officials to carry out Broyles’ death investigation.
State police wrote that an initial investigation indicates foul play is suspected in Broyles’ death, but that ruling may change as the ongoing investigation continues.
