Vallejo police shoot armed vandalism suspect: PD
At approximately 6:01 p.m., Vallejo police officers responded to a report of possible vandalism to a vehicle in the 2000 block of Ascot Parkway. Vallejo PD said officers were made aware that the person involved was wanted on several outstanding felony and misdemeanor arrest warrants.
Vallejo PD said arriving officers saw the subject, who was identified as Alexander Schumann, walk towards them and point what appeared to be a handgun at them. An officer then shot Schumann, according to police.
Officers said they rendered aid to Schumann after the shooting, and he was taken to a local hospital by helicopter. Police said he is in stable condition.
Police said a pellet/BB gun was located at the scene.
The Solano County Major Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation, according to police. The City of Vallejo has hired an independent investigator to investigate this shooting, police said. The Vallejo PD Critical Incident Review Board will evaluate this shooting, according to police.
