At around 12:30 p.m. Friday, officers received a call of a traffic crash on Avenue 12, west of Road 30.
Officers learned that a woman driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on Avenue 12, west of Road 30. CHP said for reasons still under investigation, she veered off the roadway onto the right shoulder.
According to CHP, the front of the Chevrolet collided with a ditch, causing it to overturn and strike two almond trees.
During the crash, CHP said the passenger who was with her, a 65-year-old man from Madera, was ejected. CHP said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Despite life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
