MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — KEDM’s Public Broadcasting Funding has been eliminated sparking concerns about public media nationwide. The public radio station has now had to make a cut to their second audio streaming which was KEDM’s strategic response to the recent congressional actions.

KEDM’s Jay Curtis says that the station is working to counteract these cuts with a combination of fundraising and programming eliminations.

What we’re looking at do do in the future is a combination of fundraising and programming cuts. We buy a lot of programming from NPR and other places some of those we’ll just simply not be able to afford anymore and we’re working to develop some more local programming.

Jay Curtis, General Manager at KEDM Public Radio

The station is still supporting local artist even with major funding cuts. KEDM will host a “Boot on the Bayou” fundraiser that will take place on September 13th, 2025, at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
