LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — New details have been released on the incident from this morning that caused a lockdown at Lafayette High School and South Louisiana Community College.

Officials have captured escaped prisoner Shon Alick Jolivette, 47, of Lafayette who was in custody for armed robbery, two counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated second-degree battery, simple criminal damage to property, contraband- taking to and from penal institutions and obstruction of justice- evidence tampering.

According to authorities, Jolivette was transported to UHC in Lafayette for medical reasons this morning. Upon arrival at the facility, Jolivette, who escaped his restraints, ran from the transport van.

The Lafayette Police Department and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area and officials said Jolivette was found behind a nearby building and taken into custody without incident.

Officials said Jolivette has been returned to a St. Landry Parish jail, and an investigation continues in the matter.
