Just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 23, a RADE deputy stopped a vehicle near mile marker 93 for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Jermaine Dorsey, 47, and his passenger as Kyren Kentrell Dixon, 29, both of Alexandria.
During the stop, the deputy smelled marijuana and obtained verbal consent to search the vehicle, authorities said. A small amount of marijuana was located in the center console, and approximately 5.8 pounds of fentanyl were found in a bag on the rear floorboard.
Both men were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
Dorsey was charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, improper window tint, and no license plate light. Dixon was charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.
Dorsey was released the same day on a $100,700 bond, while Dixon was released the following day on a $100,500 bond.
RADE agents said the investigation remains ongoing.
The RADE Unit is a multi-jurisdictional task force that includes the Alexandria Police Department, multiple parish and municipal police agencies, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
Authorities reminded the public that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
