In the morning of Tuesday, August 26, a white Toyota Sequoia was traveling eastbound on SR-6. Near milepost 231, the Toyota collided with a semitruck that was travelling westbound.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Toyota had crossed the centerline when it sideswiped the semi. The semi came to a stop on the eastbound shoulder, while facing west.
The Toyota went off the road from the eastbound lane, going through a guardrail and off an embankment. Additionally, during the collision, the driver’s door was ripped open, and the driver was ejected. The vehicle ended up overturned, with the driver pinned underneath.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Toyota, who has been identified only as a 43-year-old female, was fatally injured and died at the scene of the crash.
The Department of Public Safety noted that it was raining, and roads were wet where the accident occurred, but that “there is no indication that the Toyota lost control” prior to colliding with the semi.
