Geoffry Wells Goldsborough, 48, has been charged with one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Charges were filed on July 18, but sealed until recently.

June 20, 2025, was the last time that Salvador Cornejo Pedraza was seen by his family. Two days later, on June 22, the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office located his white Isuzu Rodeo (a type of SUV) just north of Wendover.

According to court documents, detectives located spots of blood on both the inside and outside of the vehicle. A steering wheel cover that his family knew to be Pedraza’s was found on the ground. The family told detectives that Pedraza was not suicidal, and it was not like him to leave for so long.

One of the Wendover Fire Department officials on scene when Pedraza was found reported seeing a man in the area who identified himself as “Geoff.” This man allegedly said he was going to his white Isuzu Rodeo before correcting himself and saying he was going to his white Dodge truck.

The official said that the man then walked away “in a hurry” and appeared to be carrying a jug of vinegar. After the fire department official shared this, detectives began looking for information about Geoffry Goldsborough, who owned a farm roughly ten miles from the area where the vehicle was found.

Goldsborough had allegedly put his two-week notice in on Aug. 20 and was talking about moving to Wyoming. One of his coworkers reported that Goldsborough had recently mentioned “carjacking” someone to get to Wyoming. Surveillance footage from the port of entry to Wyoming revealed that his white Dodge truck entered the state on Aug. 23.

Detectives travelled to Wyoming to identify Goldsborough’s truck and found that his tire tracks matched those located near Pedraza’s abandoned vehicle. These same tire tracks would be located near Pedraza’s remains.

While investigating Goldsborough, law enforcement used surveillance footage, drones, K-9s, and other resources to locate Pedraza. On July 10, 2025, detectives were notified that a deceased individual was found near Leppy Pass Road. An Intrepid Potash employee located him next to shrub brushes near the Bonneville Salt Flats and Intrepid Potash wells.

The deceased individual was transported to the medical examiner to be identified. According to court documents, Pedraza’s autopsy revealed that he had multiple gunshots, and his death was ruled a homicide by the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office.

Search warrants performed on Goldsborough’s phone led officers to discover that his phone was shut off at the time of Pedraza’s disappearance, at approximately the same time he disappeared. After the truck was found by law enforcement located Pedraza’s vehicle was located, Goldsborough’s phone was reactivated, and data showed it was previously in the area where Pedraza’s remains were found.

Pedraza was arrested and booked into the Tooele County Jail, where he is currently being held on a no-bail warrant. Documents say that he lives a “nomadic” lifestyle and does not have “deep roots” in any state, making him a flight risk if released.
