Fire breaks out at Safeway in San Jose
(KRON) — Crews are responding to a fire that broke out at a Safeway on Tuesday afternoon in San Jose, the San Jose Fire Department said. The fire happened around 4:53 p.m. at the location on Bird Avenue.

As of now, the fire remains only on the exterior of the grocery store and is producing “heavy black smoke,” SJFD said. Firefighters confirm that there is no fire inside.

Traffic on Bird Avenue is impacted, officials said.
