COPA investigates South Side shooting involving CPD officer

CHICAGO — An investigation by Chicago’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is underway on Wednesday following a shooting involving a CPD officer on the city’s South Side.

According to COPA, the incident unfolded in the 5800 block of South Shields in Englewood.

Authorities have not yet provided an update on the incident or said whether anyone involved was injured in the shooting.

SkyCam 9 was over the scene around 6:30 a.m. when several squad cars and uniformed officers could be spotted working the scene, seemingly focusing on an alley in the area.
