According to a report, a call came in at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday for an aggressive pit bull running through a backyard in the 300 block of Bernard Drive.
The caller said the dogs lived in the 1500 block of Anne Drive.
MPD says an officer tried to make contact with the homeowner of the dogs and was surrounded by multiple pit bulls, who were barking and approaching aggressively, which forced the officer to try and pepper spray the dogs.
MPD says it slowed them down enough to allow the officer to get back to his cruiser, but two additional pit bulls surrounded him and one tried to bite his leg. That forced him to fire his weapon, almost hitting the dog.
The person named, Christopher Adams, was charged with harboring a vicious animal. Officials state Adams had previously been given a verbal warning in reference to the same charge back in April.
