Spirit Halloween is a costume store that is usually open during the fall season but disappears at the start of November.
The company is set to have more than 1,500 stores for the upcoming holiday season, with seven in Arkansas.
Across not only Arkansas but the entire country, these stores pop up in vacant buildings where businesses have closed.
Spirit Halloween’s website shows what each location used to be before it became a temporary costume store.
Three out of the seven Arkansas stores are in buildings that formerly housed Joann Fabrics, a craft store chain that filed for bankruptcy protection in January.
Spirit Halloween locations in other states are buildings that once housed Advanced Auto Parts, Stein Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Tuesday Morning, David’s Bridal, Toys R Us, Pier 1 Imports, and even old Sears and Kmart stores.
