The Boone County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) shared the story in a post on Facebook.
According to the post, Hayden Johnson was working in the Foster area when he was flagged down for help after a burning car left the road and overturned into a nearby creek. Johnson charged in, cut away the airbag and pulled an elderly woman out of the crashed vehicle.
But it wasn’t just Johnson’s heroics that helped save the day.
Nearby to the scene, nine-year-old Jaxon heard the loud crash and immediately got his grandmother to call 911, ensuring the swift arrival of emergency crews. For his efforts, BCSO awarded Jaxon with one of their free ice cream/cookie cards, part of a partnership with the local McDonald’s.
The rescued woman is expected to make a full recovery.
