The Pilots won the university’s first national championship and completed the first undefeated season in college baseball history.
Since then, the honors and attention have poured in.
The 59-0 national championship was honored on the floor of the United States Senate, the Louisiana State Senate, the Louisiana House of Representatives, the Shreveport Mayor’s Office, the Caddo Parish Commission, the Shreveport City Council, the Bossier Parish Police Jury, and garnered the team an invitation to the White House.
For this honor, a concrete mold of home plate will be awarded instead of the traditional handprints. The mold will then be placed at the Walk of Stars, located under the Texas Street Bridge in the Red River Entertainment District, downtown.
