CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – “Flawless, dominating and record-breaking,” those are the words parish leaders are using to describe the LSU Shreveport baseball team.
The Pilots were recognized by the Caddo Parish Commission Monday. Head coach Brad Neffendorf and Chancellor Robert Smith accepted the special proclamation that honors the team’s NAIA National Championship win. Along with the team rewriting the record books with a perfect season of 59 wins with zero losses.
The commissioners thanked the team’s efforts by saying it lifts Caddo Parish athletics and LSUS on the world stage.
“This is a remarkable year and we had a remarkable group of guys. The support has been outstanding from the city and university. The main thing for us is that we’ve not had a national title in school history in any athletic sport. As historic as our programs have been, it’s been that tough. From what our guys were able to do in the fashion they were able to it, with the type of guys we have. It was an unbelievable year that went by insanely fast. Because when you’re having that much success and fun, that’s what happens,” Neffendorf said.
LSUS said the Pilots are among the nation’s elite in every statistical category with an undefeated legacy setting a new benchmark for success for team across the country.
