Severe weather worries: We will likely experience some showers with some thunder over the northern part of the ArkLaTex on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. Another upper-level disturbance will move across the middle of the country later this week and bring our most widespread and heaviest rain. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear as if we will see much of an organized severe weather threat. Our biggest worry could be the heavy rain.
As of right now, the Blend of Models shows that ten-day rainfall potential will be in the range of 1.5 to 3”. It will be possible that we could see more. Previous individual models showed parts of the area receiving more than 5”.
Tropical Worries: Tropical Storm Fernand continues to move across the Atlantic and will not pose a threat to the US Coast. Once Fernand dissipates, it appears that we will not see any tropical development in the Atlantic for the next few weeks.
Today’s Weather Worry Index: More storms will be possible at times this week. While we likely won’t see any severe weather, there is a chance that we could see some heavy rain. I will keep today’s WWI at 2 out of 10.
This could go up if it becomes more apparent that heavier rain is more likely. Stay tuned!!
