BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Bossier Sheriff’s Department is searching for qualified applicants to help lead the Steve Hoyle Substance Abuse program.

According to the Louisiana Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT)

Steve Hoyle Intensive Substance Abuse Program (SHISAP) is a 6-month program, holding a 600-beds for men that focuses on substance use disorders (SUD), criminogenic, and reentry needs treatment program.

The program has its own facility on the three-building state correctional campus of the
Bossier Parish Correctional Center.

SHISAP participants are referred to the program by court orders, judges, treatment agencies, or
by the potential participant or their loved one.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Contracted Counseling/Teaching position.

  • Applicants should have a Master’s degree in a social science field
  • Be prepared to instruct a classroom of about 20 incarcerated individuals
  • Perform administrative duties related to student files
  • Must successfully pass a background check and a drug screen

The completion rate of SHISAP is approximately 85% to 87% with an average of 100 participants completing the program each month.
