According to town officials, a water system repair was conducted at the corner of 2nd Street and St. Marry Street Monday evening. However, the valves intended to isolate the repair site did not function as expected. As a result, the entire water system had to be fully shut down to complete the repair.
A town-wide boil water advisory was put into effect around 10:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.
Water service was fully restored Tuesday, but the advisory remains in effect. Town officials said if you pay your water bill to the town of Abita Springs, you are affected by the advisory. Water samples were taken to a laboratory to begin a 24-hour testing period. Once the results are confirmed and cleared, the advisory will be lifted.
