The fire so far has burned through 16 acres. Officials shared that as of Aug. 24, there are eight wildland firefighters and two helitack crew members on scene. A single-engine air tanker was also used to drop retardant.
According to the Bureau of Land Management, helitack crews are a critical first response resource, often the first on-scene when wildfires ignite. Transported by helicopter, these highly trained firefighters provide rapid initial attack, assess fire conditions, and support suppression efforts from both the ground and air.
