According to ALDOT, closures will be suspended from Friday, Aug. 29, at noon through Monday, Sept. 1, at 11:59 p.m.
The suspension is put into place to help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety with more people traveling during the holiday. ALDOT said that the suspension will also provide a safer environment for maintenance and construction workers.
“In 2024, nine people died in crashes during the Labor Day holiday weekend,” said Amanda Deem, Drive Safe Alabama Coordinator. “By suspending lane closures, we hope to make everyone’s journey safer and less stressful.”
