LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) —
The Ragin’ Cajun volleyball team is gearing up for its fifth season under head coach Kristi Gray, following their red and white scrimmage.
The red team won the first two sets and the white team claimed the third.
“As a whole, defense was great across the board,” said head coach Kristi Gray. “I mean, looking at our blocks, we blocked a total of 13 balls on both sides. So pretty happy about that.”
Gray noted that while one side showed a balanced offense, there is room for improvement on the other side. “Balanced offense on one side more than the other would like to see the other side get a little better offensively,” she remarked.
The team features 11 newcomers this season, whom Gray praised for their performance in the scrimmage environment. “They’ve done a phenomenal job,” she said. “We talked prior to this, is we’re finally getting the opportunity to play in front of fans, to where we can get out the jitters before next weekend. And it seemed very seamless.”
The Cajun volleyball team is set to open its season on August 29 against Texas Southern.
