Pennsylvania man sentenced to 15 years for role in 7-Eleven robbery spree

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) — A Pennsylvania man will spent 15 years in federal prison for his role in a string of 7-Eleven robberies.

Rubiel Perez, 31, of Allentown, was sentenced earlier this week to 15 years in prison and five years of supervised released.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said he had faced robbery charges in connection with an armed robbery spree in the Lehigh Valley.

He pleaded guilty in March.

Perez was accused of robbing three 7-Eleven convenience stores in the Lehigh Valley in March of 2023.

Federal authorities say he stole $937 from the 7-Eleven on Union Boulevard in Allentown on March 28.

“Three times in two days, Rubiel Perez pointed his gun at store clerks and made them fear for their lives,” said U.S. Attorney David Metcalf. “Prosecuting violent offenders is a priority for my office. We will not permit criminals to prey on the people in our communities.”

The next night, he tried to rob two other 7-Elevens in the valley — one on South 4th Street in Allentown, stealing $150, and another on West Tilghman Street in South Whitehall Township.

“In 25 hours, Rubiel Perez robbed three 7-Eleven stores, threatening the employees’ lives at gunpoint,” said Shannon Hamm, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Philadelphia Field Division. “Stopping violent criminals who terrorize our communities like Perez is a primary ATF mission.”
