Man dies after falling into Lake Michigan while riding jet ski near Navy Pier

CHICAGO (WGN) — A man has died after authorities say he fell off a jet ski while riding near the Navy Pier on Lake Michigan on Thursday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 900 block of East Grand, near the Navy Pier.

Officers said the victim, a 52-year-old man, was riding a jet ski in the area when he fell into the water.

The Chicago Fire Department’s Marine Unit was called to the scene and later recovered the man. He was then taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has since identified the man as 52-year-old Hosam Jadrawi.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the incident and an investigation is underway.
