BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Jeff Bergeron announced that four people were arrested after a series of vehicle burglaries early Thursday morning left residents missing firearms, cash, and personal belongings.

Deputies responded to 12 burglary reports in neighborhoods between Rosedale Road and U.S. 190. At least 15 firearms, along with money, a laptop, a passport, and other valuables, were stolen from unlocked vehicles.

An investigation led detectives to a suspect vehicle in Lafayette Parish, where they arrested Samaya Charles, 17, of Lafayette. Police searched Charles’ home and car. WBRSO said they found a stolen gun from West Baton Rouge and clothes that matched what was seen in a video.

On Saturday, with the help of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed a search warrant at a Breaux Bridge home. WBRSO said three more suspects were arrested, and 10 firearms were found, including three confirmed stolen from Vermilion, St. Martin, and West Baton Rouge parishes.

Quaylon Mouton, 17, faces 10 counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of simple burglary.

Two juveniles, aged 15 and 16, also face aggravated burglary and simple burglary charges.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
