Cooling center opening for Marrero residents impacted by Entergy outage
MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — Johnny Jacobs Playground will open as a cooling center for Marrero residents impacted by a planned Entergy outage Sunday, Aug. 24.
According to Jefferson Parish officials, an Entergy contractor will be performing maintenance and reliability upgrades, which includes replacing nine poles on 4th Street from Jung to Barataria Boulevard. To perform this work safely, it was necessary to de-energize the lines.
The outage was planned for 6:00 a.m. Sunday and should last around eight hours. The cooling center will open at 11:00 a.m.
