The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said two people were found dead Saturday after their ATV appeared to have crashed and overturned into water.
According to the sheriff’s office, they received a call around 9:20 p.m. from Ditch Bank Forest Road in Progress Township, after two people were reportedly found dead.
When they arrived, first responders found a 48-year-old woman from Cloquet and a 59-year-old man from out of state unresponsive. Both were declared deceased as a result of an ATV crash.
Authorities said the two had been travelling together in a side-by-side ATV with a group, but became separated from their fellow riders.
Another member of the group later came upon them and found their ATV overturned in the water. Members of the ATV group attempted CPR, but were unable to revive them.
The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.
