According to the West Valley City Police, at approximately 11:13 p.m. on Aug. 21, a juvenile female called the police to report her brother, Hector Martinez. The female claimed that the 32-year-old was intoxicated and had thrown a knife at their mother. She also claimed that he had assaulted her father.
Police stated that when patrol and a K-9 arrived on scene, Hector retreated into his home. Officials claimed that he was not compliant and refused to go outside.
Police were then granted a search warrant for the residence, and SWAT was called to the scene. The team then commenced a barricade operation.
The West Valley City Police shared that Hector eventually surrendered and is booked into jail for Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence in the presence of a minor, both third degree felony charges, Two Class-B Misdemeanors for Domestic Violence Assault and Domestic Violence threat and Intoxication, Class-C Misdemeanor.
