SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Krewe of Gemini is gearing up for Mardi Gras season with a theme fit for celebration, “The Greatest Show.”

As the oldest krewe in North Louisiana, celebrating 37 years, Gemini continues to blend tradition with community involvement. Members recently wrapped up a record-setting coronation at Sam’s Town Live Casino, drawing close to 500 attendees.

“We’re just regular people from all walks of life,” said Duke of Louisiana Dr. John Reeves. “We have members in their 20s, and some who’ve been with us into their 80s. It’s truly a full spectrum of age and experience.”

The krewe is also known for its charitable efforts, including its successful Fill the Bus campaign, which provided school supplies for Caddo and Bossier Parish students.

This year’s theme will inspire colorful floats, including crowd favorites like Running of the Bulls and Oktoberfest. Royalty will also ride specialty floats, with designs created by a New Orleans team that surprises members and parade-goers alike each year.

The krewe is actively working to recruit younger members while continuing to support other krewes by attending coronations, parades, and balls throughout the season.

“Our captain has really shifted our focus to bring in younger members and keep the excitement alive,” said Duchess of Texas Christy Sheffield.

The Krewe of Gemini invites the community to get involved by visiting their den and museum, which showcases decades of costumes and floats, and by attending upcoming events leading into parade season.
