Pete Piringer, a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), shared in a post on X around 10:41 p.m. on Aug. 21, that crews were called to the 1800 block of Dellabrooke Farm Lane for a house fire in the Brookeville area.
When first responders arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from a garage attached to a two-story house. Piringer added that smoke was also billowing out from the front door.
A family, two adults, three children and their pet were alerted by smoke alarms and safely escaped the fire.
Aerial video shared with DC News Now from MyDrone.Pro captured smoke billowing over the house as firefighters worked on the scene.
During the investigation, officials determined that the blaze ignited in the basement, possibly by electrical wiring. The fire caused about $250,000 in damage, according to Piringer.
