According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received three cybertip reports in January from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The tips were brought forward by Yahoo! and highlighted over 130 files that allegedly contained child sex abuse material. Investigators uncovered evidence that 45-year-old Kevin Chapel Jr. of Kokomo allegedly uploaded the content, HCSO said.
On Aug. 7, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 6000 block of 80 South in Kokomo. Over the course of their search, HCSO said investigators seized multiple electronic devices that reportedly contained media files depicting child sex abuse.
Chapel Jr. was placed under arrest on Aug. 18 and transported to the Howard County Jail, where he faces the following preliminary charges:
