TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — Arkansas State Representative DeAnn Vaught will be the keynote speaker when Harvest Regional Food Bank kicks off National Hunger Action Month with its annual Hunger Action Luncheon on August 26 at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church.
The luncheon takes place at noon. Tickets are $10, and reservations can be made by calling (870) 774-1398 or by emailing development@hrfb.org.

September is Hunger Action Month, a time when food banks encourage their communities to take action against hunger. The luncheon will honor volunteers, sponsors, and special friends. It will also name the Hunger Hero of the Year.

Camile Coker Wrinkle, CEO of Harvest Regional Food Bank, said, “Both Texas and Arkansas have some of the highest rates of food insecurity in the nation, especially in children under the age of 18. These are our neighbors; the people we live with, work with, and attend school with.”

Food insecurity affects 47 million people in America, 14 million of whom are children.
