Officer passes away after battling rare form of cancer
Huntersville Police Officer Broadway was battling a rare form of cancer, a fight coworkers, family, and friends said he faced with unwavering strength and grace.
In a statement, Huntersville Police shared their sorrow: “Bill was more than a police officer. He was a devoted servant to the Town of Huntersville and its citizens… a trusted teammate, a loyal friend, and a man whose strong work ethic was one to emulate.”
They also spoke of his deep love for his family and strong faith, saying, “He poured his heart into his family, and the love he had for them was evident in every part of his life. Bill’s love for Jesus and his strong faith carried him through this journey with courage and hope, and that same faith comforts us now as we remember the life he lived.”
The Huntersville Fire Department also honored Officer Broadway, calling him “a dedicated public servant and an amazing member of our community.” They added, “Rest Easy brother, we are so thankful for your selfless service… We are all better for knowing you.”
Both departments expressed gratitude to the community for their support during this time.
If you would like to help the family, a GoFundMe was started this July.
