Tuesday’s high failed to reach 80 degrees officially at O’Hare International Airport, a drop of 9 degrees from Monday, thanks in part to extensive cloud coverage in the wake of Monday night’s deluge that brought more than a full August’s worth of rainfall to some areas.
Lee County’s Paw Paw led the list with more than 7.00” of rain while several parts of northwest Indiana logged totals in the 5.00” range leading to extensive flooding for the hardest hit locations.
It’s been an active stretch of weather recently. Officially at O’Hare, it’s rained on 7 of the last 10 days and the monthly tally is now at 4.68” which makes this the wettest open to August in 35 years, since 1990.
