Mass Ave launches new app to promote local businesses

INDIANAPOLIS – Have you ever wanted to hit up a trendy restaurant on Mass Ave, but you weren’t sure where to go? Well, now there’s an app for that.

The district launched a new app aimed at bringing more people to the strip and showing off what Mass Ave has to offer.

Tavern at the Point has been on Mass Ave for the last 20 years, and they are one of the businesses that’s looking to reap the benefits of the recently released new app. The app was specifically made to allow people to explore the strip and businesses along Mass Ave. Jayson Elliott said he’s excited for the potential foot traffic.

“I think it’s a wonderful thing to continue to bring people here,” Elliott said. “There’s just so much to see, so much to do on the avenue, and people need to know about it.”

The app is called “The Mass Ave Indy App”, and it’s available for download right now in the app store. Jeffrey Stroebel with the Mass Ave district said the app will be a huge benefit for anyone coming downtown.

“The idea is simply to put all of what Mass Ave has to offer in the palm of your hand,” Stroebel said. “If you come down to Mass Ave and want to know where to eat, where to shop, what events are going on, all of that is right there.”

While the app is new and was just recently launched, Stroebel said it’s already generated a lot of downloads and page visits from more than 400 users in less than a month. Leaders see plenty of potential for businesses once it takes off.

“We feel like it will catch on and then our merchants and businesses will see the value in it,” Stroebel said.

District leaders believe that while it will take some getting used to for people and businesses, there is still a lot of potential to do different things with the app, including offering specials through the businesses.

“There’s potential in the app we’re not using now in terms of offering discounts or offering specials,” Stroebel said.

Whether you’re coming down to explore the arts, shop, or grab a bite to eat, businesses and leaders want you to use the new app to explore what Mass Ave has to offer.

“The art scene is crazy, the culinary scene is chef’s kiss,” Elliott said. “Just come on down to the avenue. You won’t be disappointed.”
