Lt. Governor town hall sparks “large fight” in Warrick County

WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — A “large fight” was reported at a town hall in Warrick County where Indiana Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith was speaking.

According to Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson, EPD and the sheriff’s office were requested to help with a “large fight.”

Footage obtained by Eyewitness News show one protester being restrained by law enforcement. The footage also showed members in the crowd arguing and yelling.

Lt. Governor Beckwith released a statement on Facebook after the town hall. Below is his full statement:

“Today, my team and I spent the day with faith leaders, business owners and elected officials in southwest Indiana. Tonight, we had a town hall scheduled in Warrick County. While I appreciate and welcome lively debate, unfortunately, there were individuals with less than good intentions and resorted to uncivil conduct against each other and law enforcement. I want to thank local law enforcement and first responders for keeping the public and my team safe.”

Eyewitness News reached out to EPD for a comment. Officials say EPD took no enforcement action. Any comment will come from ISP. The Indiana State Police have not yet released a statement.
