By Wednesday of next week, a strong cold front is forecast to push through our region. This front will not only bring cooler temperatures but also a chance for rain. This will be such a welcomed change for many of us who have been sweating it out for weeks.
Our average high for this time of year sits near 95 degrees, and over the next five days, we’ll be running just a touch warmer than that. Expect highs in the upper 90s through the weekend and into early next week.
The surface map from the Weather Prediction Center highlights a cold front moving through the state during the middle of next week. Rain chances will also increase with this system, so keep the umbrella handy. The exact timing and totals are still to be determined, but the potential for widespread showers and even some thunderstorms is there.
Notice the big dip on the tail end of this seven day forecast. Tuesday’s high drops to around 90 degrees, and Wednesday only reaches about 84 degrees. To add more spice, some of our weather models are hinting that parts of the area might not even break out of the upper 70s on Wednesday.
Now, what qualifies as “fall” might depend on who you ask. Some people say 70s, others are happy just to see something under 90. But in my opinion, fall is making an early appearance next week. Get ready for a refreshing change, Big Country!
