EBRSO said they were called to the scene a little after 10 a.m., and the investigation led to Jeremiah Chissell, 39, of Baton Rouge, being taken into custody. He was charged with attempted second-degree murder and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property.
When deputies got to the scene, they were able to detain Chissell. EBRSO said a shooting victim was located down the road and taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
As the investigation unfolded, deputies learned that a roofer was working on Chissell’s home when he walked outside with a rifle.
According to EBRSO, he fired off multiple shots at the worker on the roof. The worker fell off the roof and ran away from the home, EBRSO said.
The worker said Chissell followed him for a little bit and continued to shoot at him.
The worker was not shot but did suffer a possible broken arm. EBRSO said they found multiple spent cartridge casings in the front yard of the home, as well as in the road.
They also found that a food truck at the home address was hit by multiple bullets.
The Baton Rouge man was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
