The Alameda Police Department responded just after noon to the 500 block of Willie Stargell Avenue on the report of a possible bank robbery. Arriving officers learned that a person had passed a threatening note demanding money to a bank teller.
“When the demand was not fulfilled, the individual left the property,” Alameda PD said.
Staff at the bank secured the premises and gathered video evidence to assist officers in the investigation. The suspect’s description was shared with patrol units, and within minutes, the suspect was found and arrested near Webster Street, according to authorities.
“We appreciate the bank’s staff for their quick actions to protect employees and customers,” Alameda PD said. “Their immediate call to APD played a significant role in bringing a swift resolution to this incident.”
The attempted bank robbery remains under investigation.
