WOWK 13 News stopped by Hannan Trace Elementary in Crown City, where teachers and staff welcomed students with a smile.
The students are ready to get the new year started off on the right foot. Students Anniston Stutler and Canna Wroten told 13 News Photographer Christopher Holtzapfel they were both excited for their first day of school.
Teachers say they’re also excited to get back to doing what they love.
“Everybody is super welcoming, hopefully, you can see that in a little bit,” said Mikayla Wroten, preschool teacher as she and her coworkers waited for the kids to arrive. “Everybody’s at the door ready to greet all the kids. We’re here to help anybody get up to their classrooms. If they’re a little bit nervous, get their jitters out, and make it a really super exciting day.”
Tuesday also marked the first day back for Athens City Schools in Ohio and Mason County Schools and Jackson County Schools in West Virginia.
