BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department has made an arrest in connection with a shed fire on 79th Street.

BRFD reported that crews put out a small trash fire in September 2023. The fire was located in the 1600 block of 79th Street, next to the back of a shed. Investigators said someone had set a small pile of clothes on fire, which led to the shed catching on fire.

On Tuesday, 21-year-old Diontae Armstrong was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces one count of simple arson. Armstrong admitted to BRFD that he threw the burning clothes on the ground by the shed. He also brought some into the house.

BRFD said that no injuries were reported.
