Cisco and Oracle to cut hundreds of Bay Area jobs
(KRON) — Two more tech giants have announced plans to lay off hundreds of people in the Bay Area. Both Cisco Systems Inc. and Oracle announced job cuts that were processed last week according to state filings with the Employment Development Department.

Oracle, which previously announced nearly 200 job cuts in Pleasanton and Redwood City, will be cutting 101 jobs at its Santa Clara office on Leonard Stocking Drive. Notice for the latest round of job cuts was given on Aug. 13 with the cuts to take effect on Oct. 13.

Cisco will be cutting a total of 221 jobs with 157 layoffs at its McCarthy Boulevard facility in Milpitas and another 64 at its San Francisco office on Terry A. Francis Boulevard. Those job cuts are also set to take effect on Oct. 13.

Layoffs at both companies were described as permanent in state filings.
