BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — August 19, 2025
Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of a 27-year-old man Tuesday morning after several days of searching at Monroe Lake.
The victim, identified as Keynner Lugo, was last seen Sunday afternoon attempting to swim to shore from a boat in the Allen’s Creek area of the lake. According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lugo began to struggle in the water before going under.
Other boaters nearby tried to help Lugo but were unable to rescue him. Officers were dispatched around 1:10 p.m. Sunday and launched a search using side-scan sonar, a remotely operated vehicle, and divers.
Search operations were suspended at nightfall Sunday and resumed Monday morning. Lugo’s body was located and recovered at 7:49 a.m., about 200 yards from where he was last seen, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation.
