Indiana DNR: Search underway for missing 27-year-old man at Monroe Lake

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities are searching for a missing man after he never emerged from Monroe Lake on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, conservation officers were called to the area of Allen Creek Boat Ramp on Monroe Lake around 1:15 p.m. in response to a reported drowning.

Indiana DNR said preliminary information indicates a 27-year-old man was on a pontoon boat when he went into the water. A short time later, the man could be heard reportedly asking for help before disappearing under the water.

Authorities spent Sunday afternoon searching the water with sonar equipment but could not locate the body as of this article’s publication. The search concluded Sunday night as DNR crews plan to resume Monday morning.
