BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — August 18, 2025
Authorities are searching Monroe Lake for a 27-year-old man who disappeared while swimming from a boat, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The DNR said Keynner Lugo was attempting to swim to shore in the Allen’s Creek area around 1:10 p.m. Sunday when he began struggling and went underwater. Other boaters tried to help but were unable to reach him.
Indiana Conservation Officers responded and began search operations using side-scan sonar, a remotely operated vehicle and divers. The search was called off at nightfall Sunday and resumed Monday morning.
As of Monday afternoon, Lugo had not been found.
Additional updates will be released as they become available, officials said.
